Sergey Bortnichek

Sergey Bornichek is Lead Consultant in Sport Event Delivery. His focus on the sports sector began in 2009 when he was asked to lead the Logistics function for the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games and he has been involved in nearly 100 events over the course of the last decade.

Even prior to Sochi 2014, he was trained in multiple events including the Olympics Winter Games in Vancouver in 2010 and the Summer Games in London in 2012. Later, he joined FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 as Services Director, with a large scope of services including Catering, Accommodation, Cleaning & Waste Management, Language Services, and Logistics.

In 2019, Sergey took on a similar role for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022. Following the hugely successful event, Sergey stayed on in Qatar and joined the EXPO 2023 Doha team, where he lead the Event Services team (Logistics, Catering, Cleaning & Waste Management, Accreditation, Transport, Security, Medical services, and Language support).

Aside from managing events from planning to execution, Sergey has a passion leading and inspiring teams, navigating crises, building relationships, connecting cultural mindsets and fostering a culture of respect and support.

Sergey is based out of Doha, Qatar and provides consultancy services in English and Russian.
